Verve AI Analysis Reveals Why 93% of Qualified Job Candidates Still Freeze in Interviews

Oct 6, 2026

New research highlighted by Verve AI shows 93% of job candidates face interview anxiety, driving demand for real-time live interview support.

San Jose, California, October 6, 2026 -- Verve AI, a real-time interview support platform now used by more than 50,000 active candidates, is highlighting new industry research showing that interview anxiety plays a significant role in preventing qualified candidates from converting interviews into job offers, even after hours of preparation.

The analysis comes as more employers rely on structured video interviews and AI-assisted recruitment tools, raising the stakes for candidates in a hiring process that increasingly happens on screen rather than in person.

According to a JDP report cited by StandOut CV, 93% of people have experienced interview-related anxiety. That figure holds even though, according to Indeed, candidates typically spend five to ten hours preparing for a single interview. The results suggest that preparation alone isn't translating into interview performance: only 24% of candidates say they're happy with how the interview process actually goes, according to JobScore.

"We've spoken with thousands of candidates using Verve who knew the answer cold and still froze the second the interviewer looked at them," said Aileen Wu, Founder of Verve AI. "That's not a knowledge problem. That's what we built Verve to fix."

Verve AI provides real-time, private support during live interviews, helping candidates respond clearly under pressure without changing what they actually know or have done. The platform responds in under 300 milliseconds and supports interviews in more than 55 languages.

It works across Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Webex, and covers behavioral, technical, and coding interview formats. Candidates managing ADHD, interview anxiety, and re-entry after a career break are among those using the platform.

"Preparation gets you the knowledge," Wu said. "It doesn't always get you the delivery. That's the piece we're solving for."
