Texas recorded 18,834 large truck crashes in 2024, more than any other state in the nation. As the firm celebrates 42 years in practice, David W. Starnes, Attorney at Law, has announced same-day appointments for 18-wheeler accident victims across Southeast Texas.
Beaumont, Texas, United States, September 15, 2026 -- Texas has more 18-wheeler crashes than any other state in the country, and the consequences for the people involved are severe. Large commercial trucks weigh up to 80,000 pounds when fully loaded. In a collision with a passenger vehicle, that weight causes catastrophic injuries. After a crash, critical evidence, such as driver logs, electronic control module data, dashcam footage, and trucking company records, can be altered, overwritten, or lost entirely.
According to an investigation by the Texas Tribune, over 39,000 commercial motor vehicle crashes occurred in Texas in 2024, including 772 fatal crashes involving large trucks. This figure places the state at the top of the national ranking for truck-related fatalities.
For victims of 18-wheeler accidents, the hours and days after a crash are very important. Trucking companies and their insurers often deploy response teams immediately after a serious crash. They begin building their defense before a victim has spoken with any attorney. Evidence preservation, witness contact, and a timely investigation will protect your claim.
As the firm marks its 42nd year in practice, David W. Starnes Attorney At Law has announced same-day appointments for individuals and families seeking legal guidance after an 18-wheeler accident. The scheduling change is a direct response to the time-sensitive nature of truck accident cases in Southeast Texas. The firm is now accepting same-day consultations for crash victims across Jefferson County and surrounding communities.
The firm is led by David W. Starnes, a Personal Injury Trial Law and Texas Board-Certified Civil Trial Law attorney, a credential held by fewer than one percent of Texas lawyers in each category. Board certification in Texas requires demonstrated competence, peer recognition, and ongoing continuing legal education in the relevant specialty. It isn't a self-designated title. For clients with 18-wheeler accident claims, this legal qualification really matters because these cases involve big trucking companies, strict federal rules, and tough insurance fights. Having the right attorney can make or break your chance at getting fair compensation.
This firm handles 18-wheeler accident cases as well as other motor vehicle accidents, hurricane claims, employment discrimination, and additional civil matters throughout Texas. In truck accident cases specifically, the firm focuses on evidence that's rarely available from a standard police report, including driver hours-of-service logs, electronic logging device data, maintenance records, and inspection histories. Trucking companies are required by federal law to preserve certain records following a crash, but that obligation has limits. Early legal involvement is what enforces it.

Starnes, the firm represents victims of 18-wheeler accidents, auto accidents, and other civil claims throughout Jefferson County and across the state of Texas.
