Tampa Bay Reporter Launches with a Mission to Deliver Local News with National Reach

Oct 1, 2026

New digital news platform will spotlight the people, businesses, issues and ideas shaping Tampa Bay while connecting local stories to a broader national audience

SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. - Oct. 1, 2026 - PRLog -- Tampa Bay Reporter, a new digital news platform dedicated to covering the people, businesses, organizations and issues shaping the Tampa Bay region, today announced its official launch.

Built around the mission "Local News, National Reach," Tampa Bay Reporter is focused on delivering timely, relevant and compelling journalism from across Tampa Bay while giving important local stories exposure beyond the region.

The publication covers business, community, events, politics, entrepreneurship, innovation and other issues affecting Tampa Bay residents and businesses.

"Our mission with Tampa Bay Reporter is simple: tell the stories that matter to Tampa Bay and make sure those stories have the opportunity to reach audiences far beyond our region," said Scott Kelly, Publisher and CEO of Tampa Bay Reporter. "Tampa Bay has become one of the most dynamic regions in the country. Entrepreneurs are building companies here, businesses are expanding here, communities are evolving, and people are creating ideas and initiatives with national significance. We want Tampa Bay Reporter to be the platform that tells those stories."

Local News. National Reach.

Tampa Bay Reporter was created to address the growing need for strong, accessible local journalism while recognizing that today's most important local stories rarely stop at city or county lines.

The publication will combine deep local knowledge with a broader perspective, highlighting how developments throughout Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater and the surrounding communities connect with statewide and national trends.

"Local journalism is essential to a strong community, but local does not have to mean limited," Kelly added. "A startup founded in St. Petersburg can become a national company. A policy decision made in Tampa can become part of a national conversation. A local nonprofit can develop a program that becomes a model for communities across America. Our goal is to find those stories, tell them well and help them travel."

Spotlighting the People Behind Tampa Bay

A central part of Tampa Bay Reporter's editorial mission will be telling the stories of the people behind the region's growth and transformation.

Coverage will include entrepreneurs, business leaders, community organizations, nonprofits, elected officials, innovators, investors, artists and other individuals making an impact throughout Tampa Bay.

The publication will also provide a platform for emerging companies, organizations and community initiatives that may not traditionally receive significant media attention.

A Digital-First News Platform

Tampa Bay Reporter is designed as a digital-first publication, allowing stories to reach readers wherever they are and enabling important Tampa Bay news to be shared with audiences throughout Florida and across the country.

Readers can access breaking and developing stories, business coverage, community news, political reporting and information about events throughout the region.

The publication also offers a free newsletter delivering Tampa Bay stories directly to subscribers.

"Our vision is to build more than another news website," Kelly said. "We want to build a trusted media platform that connects Tampa Bay — its people, businesses and communities — with each other and with the rest of the country."
