New Haven Out-Of-State Moving For Appartments With No Elevator, Guide Released

Nov 8, 2023

Movers.com has issued a guide that breaks down the complicated task of moving out of state into manageable steps. The guide includes checklists, timelines, and other tips and hints to help households in New Haven, Connecticut successfully move from apartments without elevators to long-distance destinations.

With high-mileage moves being notoriously stressful, a new guide from the relocation experts at Movers.com provides action steps and timelines to make the process less overwhelming for those moving from out-of-state from New Haven, Connecticut.

More information is available at https://www.movers.com/moving-guides/the-ultimate-checklist-for-moving-to-another-state.html

The Movers.com's latest guide counts down the steps households should take starting eight weeks before moving to another state in light of National Association of Realtors (NAR) data revealing that while Americans typically move for compelling reasons such as job changes, affordable housing, or location of family, even positive moves are stressful.

NAR's research further indicated that an increasing number of Americans are traveling more miles to their new homes - in 2022, the median distance was 50 miles - about triple the typical average for the last 30 years. Almost a quarter of households relocated at least 470 miles from their previous home, and the NAR doesn't expect these trends to change anytime soon.

According to the guide, individuals should procure interstate moving services about two months before their move. The author recommends families consider professional service providers for interstate moves since these relocation experts have experience with challenging conditions, such as apartments with no elevator or inclement weather, alongside weight restrictions and other federal regulations. Around the time they hire a mover, households should create a moving budget and track it via a spreadsheet, Movers.com also advises.

Other paperwork tasks, like identifying official documents and healthcare records, should also begin at the two-month point, according to the guide. Once papers are in order, families need to start packing unused items like out-of-season clothing, holiday decorations, and photos. Unwanted items should be donated or disposed of, and what’s left should be inventoried for insurance purposes while packing.

The guide advises individuals to procure housing at the new location by the one-month point, with renting being a good way to become familiar with a new area before committing to a permanent home. Signing a lease also provides an address for transferring utilities, setting up television and Internet services, and forwarding mail, which should also be done at the four-week mark.

Movers.com recommends confirming reservations with the moving service two weeks before the move, and starting to pack essentials once the date is set. Boxes should be labeled by room to make distribution easier upon arrival, and important documents should be kept with them rather than on a truck. An overnight bag should also stay with each member of the household.

Upon arrival, the guide recommends comparing the household’s personal inventory with the movers’ bill of lading to verify everything arrived in the same condition it was packed. Damage noticed later should be photographed to accompany the filing of a claim.

Hotels Don’t Have an AI Problem. They Have an Adoption Problem.

HiJiffy, the AI-powered Guest Communications Platform for hotels, launched today From Imposed to Owned: The Guide to Hotel AI That Sticks, a white paper arguing that the industry’s growing scepticism around AI isn’t a rejection of the technology itself, but of how it is being sold, implemented and managed. When HiJiffy surveyed hoteliers for its 2025 white paper, 86% said AI automation had already helped them save time on routine, repetitive work. What has changed, HiJiffy argues, is their patience for hype. After years of vendor pitches, product launches and conference keynotes, the question is no longer whether hotels should use AI, but whether the AI they already have delivers that value consistently, across the whole team.
