Migguel Anggelo Celebrates the Immigrant Experience, Latino Identity, and the Power of Iconic Latin Rhythms During Hispanic Heritage Month

The acclaimed Venezuelan showman transforms his story of migration, belonging, and memory into a powerful artistic experience coming to Miami with ICONS: Latin Rhythms

MIAMI - Sept. 30, 2026 - PRLog -- As millions of Latinos across the United States celebrate their roots, heritage, and contributions during Hispanic Heritage Month, Venezuelan artist Migguel Anggelo continues to use the stage as a space to explore one of the most universal stories within our community: the experience of emigrating, reinventing oneself, and building a new sense of belonging. And then there is rhythm: the shared language that transcends countries, continents, and generations, connecting Latinos around the world.

Based between Brooklyn and Miami, Anggelo is an interdisciplinary artist whose work combines music, theater, movement, humor, fashion, and performance to explore identity, immigration, family, belonging, and culture.

His own experience as a Venezuelan immigrant has become a continual source of inspiration throughout an artistic career devoted to transforming personal stories into universal conversations.

"For many immigrants, leaving our country does not mean leaving behind who we are," says Migguel Anggelo. "We carry our music, our memories, our families, our traditions, and the stories that shaped us. All of that continues to live within us."

Known for his commanding stage presence, humor, theatricality, and visual style, Migguel Anggelo has built a career that defies labels and connects cultures, generations, and artistic disciplines.

His work has been presented and developed at leading venues and cultural institutions across the United States, including Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The Public Theater, Stanford Live, MASS MoCA, Miami Light Project, Joe's Pub, the Kravis Center, the Kupferberg Center, and Chapman University, among others.

Throughout his career, Migguel Anggelo has continuously explored themes of immigration and identity. Projects such as Another Son of Venezuela, English with an Accent, and LatinXoxo have drawn upon his own story to examine the complexities of starting over, finding one's voice, and navigating different cultures.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, that conversation takes on particular significance. For Migguel Anggelo, celebrating Latino heritage is not only about looking back; it is also about recognizing how culture continues to evolve through those who immigrate, create, work, and build new communities in the United States. It recognizes what intersecting and interconnected Latiné communities revere and uphold.

From an Immigrant Story to a Collective Celebration

That artistic and personal journey comes to South Florida with ICONS: Latin Rhythms, a vibrant celebration of the music and rhythms that have accompanied generations of Latinos around the world.

Part concert, part dance party, and part theatrical experience, ICONS: Latin Rhythms invites audiences to reconnect with songs popularized by legendary artists such as Rubén Blades, Oscar D'León, La Lupe, and Juan Luis Guerra, alongside original music by Migguel Anggelo, new arrangements, unexpected combinations, and theatrical surprises.

For Anggelo, the show also offers a way to honor something millions of immigrants know well: the music we carry with us.

"Every immigrant carries a soundtrack," Anggelo says. "There are songs that remind us of home, our families, our celebrations, and who we are. ICONS: Latin Rhythms grew out of those memories and the desire to celebrate them together."

Directed and developed by Adrian Alea, with musical direction and arrangements by Jaime Lozano, the production brings together musicians, singers, dancers, drag artists, and special guests whose roots connect Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and other Latin American cultures.

The cast features Migguel Anggelo as the lead performer, Saúl Cosme on guitar, Jaime Lozano on piano and as musical director, Rubén Coca on drums, Yahir Montes on bass, Guido Gonzalez on trumpet, and vocalists Florencia Cuenca and Dilia.

Special guests include Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre, Adora, Naomi Aguilera of the PoiZon Ivy Lords, and singer Robmariel Olea.
