Market Overview

A turbine is a device that transforms the kinetic energy of a flowing liquid into mechanical energy. It is a turbomachine with at least one moving part that is most commonly a shaft or a drum that has blades attached to it. Each turbine has a few important parts that include a set of blades which can catch the moving fluid, a shaft or an axle that is connected to the blades and rotate as the blades move and finally a machine that is driven by the shaft.

A simple turbine consists of a number of blades that are most commonly made from steel. The two most popular types of turbines are impulse turbines and reaction turbines. Impulse turbines are where the fluid is forced to hit the blades at a high speed. The blades are shaped like buckets so that they can catch the fluid and deflect it at an angle with the most efficient direction being straight back. Reaction turbines on the other hand, have angled blades and the fluid flows through them thus turning the blades and producing energy
