Forced to Trust by William Hammes Explores the Complexity of Trust, Choices, and Human Nature

Sep 23, 2026

San Francisco, California Sep 23, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - William Hammes announces the release of Forced to Trust: Someone You Shouldn't Trust at All, a suspenseful legal thriller that challenges readers to question first impressions, uncover hidden truths, and explore the difficult choices people face when trust becomes their only option.

Julie, a newly practicing lawyer, is forced to flee with her five-year-old daughter, Zebra, while escaping an abusive husband and father. Their journey takes a dangerous turn when their car breaks down on a dark, isolated road, leaving Julie with no choice but to seek help from Benny--the very person she believes may be the last person she should trust around her child.

As Julie learns more about Benny, she begins to question the circumstances surrounding his conviction. With Zebra's remarkable ability to recognize the goodness and character in others, Julie is encouraged to look beyond appearances and examine the court records that led to Benny's imprisonment. What she discovers are troubling contradictions that challenge the official story and expose the deep-seated biases within the town of Zackot.

Unable to ignore what she has uncovered, Julie risks her own safety and reputation to pursue the truth. As her investigation unfolds, she finds herself drawn into an intense courtroom battle where she must defend Benny against overwhelming opposition. With the tension of a classic courtroom mystery and unexpected revelations along the way, Forced to Trust explores themes of justice, redemption, courage, and the power of seeing beyond assumptions.

William Hammes weaves together suspense, legal drama, and emotional depth in a story that asks readers an important question: What happens when the person you are taught not to trust may be the one person who deserves your faith?
