PRLog -- Dion Abadi, an Atlanta-area art and jewelry auctioneer and author, has published a free collector-education hub at dionabadi.com/tips. The hub gathers short, practical guides for people who buy art, jewelry, watches and collectibles at auction, with a focus on the questions buyers can ask before placing a bid.
The current guides cover six topics:
- Buyer's premium — how the premium, taxes and other charges affect an all-in budget
- Condition reports — why to request one before bidding, and what to ask
- Reserve prices — how reserves work and why a lot may pass
- Absentee bidding — how written bids work and how to set a clear maximum
- Auction estimates — what low and high catalog estimates mean and how they differ from reserves
- Provenance — which documents to request when checking ownership history
Each guide notes that it is general information and encourages readers to review the specific auction's terms and ask the auction house questions directly.
A companion FAQ at dionabadi.com/faq answers common questions from collectors and members of the media, including background on Dion Abadi, his books and how to get in touch. For clarity, Dion Abadi is not affiliated with Lyndhurst Auctioneers or State Liquidation Services.
The written guides are paired with short collector-tip videos on Dion Abadi's YouTube channel (youtube.com/@dionabadi-official) and longer articles on Medium (medium.com/@dion_13996).
Dion Abadi is also the author of two books available on Amazon: The Collector's Guide to Art, Jewelry, Watches & Auctions (amazon.com/dp/B0HK61KS28) and Beyond the Gavel: Art, Jewelry & Watches as Investments (amazon.com/dp/B0HKHL2J1M).
