Board of the World Turns 6 Years of Hands-On Snowboard Testing Into a Free Board-Matching App

Sep 24, 2026

A new free snowboarding app matches riders to their perfect board in under a minute-powered by six years of independent rider-testing data with zero brand sponsorships.

Scranton, PA (PRUnderground) September 24th, 2026

Board of the World today launched a free mobile app that is designed to eliminate the guesswork, confusion, and marketing noise of buying a snowboard. Built on six years of testing more than 60 boards every single season, with zero brand sponsorships or pay-to-play influence, the app distills hundreds of in-depth, real-world gear reviews into an instant, personalized board-matching tool and season goal-tracking hub.

At the core of the app is the Snowboard Finder recommendation engine. It is a quick, 5-question board-matching recommendation engine that cuts through marketing jargon to pair up riders with three board options that will be perfect for them. The board finder pulls its recommendation data from Board of the World's database of extensively tested snowboards and bindings across all riding styles.

Unlike the other brand-owned snowboard matching tools and buyer guides, the Board of the World Snowboard App has no ties to gear manufacturers. Every single recommendation is backed strictly by how well the board performs on snow for the prospective rider.

"Your local shop is always going to be the best place to get advice for your home mountain's conditions, but the reality is that online shopping isn't going away," said Steve Weber, founder of Board of the World. "Unfortunately, many riders don't have a local shop nearby, or they might just prefer doing their own research online without the pressure of a shop floor. On top of that, now, with generative AI scraping the web and then regurgitating out broad marketing fluff, getting trustworthy, unbiased advice online is harder than it ever was before. I built the Board of the World Snowboard app to fix all of that. Even if you aren't chatting with me directly, you're still getting my honest expert recommendations that are all backed by six years of consistent, hands-on testing, all right on your phone."

Beyond the board matching tool, the app acts as a complete digital utility for a rider's season:

  • Digital Quiver Sharing & Tracking: Catalog current decks, past decks, and decks on your wishlist, all paired with shareable cards and stats to show you how long you rode each board.

  • GPS Ride Tracker & Badges: Log daily mountain stats including vertical feet, top speed, laps, and total time in the air. The stats are gamified to unlock and earn badges for your riding profile.

  • Trick Progression Log: Track your progress on your dream tricks and put a trackable timeline to see the tricks you already have in your bag.

  • Open Testing Library: Access to the complete, searchable database of boards and bindings evaluated against Board of the World's 14-point testing criteria with no account required.

  • Community Feed & Lift Line: Post session check-ins, share honest gear reviews, and connect with nearby riders to meet up.

"Every feature in this app is built to help you become a better rider or care for your gear so it lasts longer," Weber added. "Whether you're tracking your total season stats, dialing in your trick progression, or sharing about your quiver with friends, the Board of the World Snowboard app gives riders a dedicated home for their time on snow. More importantly, it's about building a community of real riders who want to share their honest opinions online about how their boards perform on snow. Every review shared makes the finder's algorithm a little smarter for the next person, keeping recommendations rooted in actual experiences so anyone looking for a board can spend less time shopping for it and more time actually riding it."

The Board of the World Snowboard app is available now as a free download on iOS and Android, or you can use it right on the web https://www.boardoftheworld.com/app.

Human experience beats AI for travel recommendations, new Explore Worldwide research reveals

As conversations around generative AI continue to dominate headlines, new research from small group travel operator Explore Worldwide reveals that people are more than twice as likely to trust someone with first-hand experience when looking for recommendations in an unfamiliar destination than an AI tool. In a survey of 2,000 working adults in the UK, conducted by Opinion Matters on behalf of Explore Worldwide, recommendations from friends or family who had visited the destination were trusted by four in five respondents when considering experiences somewhere they had never been, compared with just 32% who would trust an AI tool.
