Bliss Crystals Publishes Consumer Guide to Identifying Counterfeit Moldavite

Sep 25, 2026

Bliss Crystals, a crystal and jewelry retailer in Temecula, California, has published a guide to telling genuine moldavite from glass and resin imitations. The guide sets out eight checks to make before buying, from internal features under a loupe to color, size and provenance.

Temecula, United States, September 25, 2026 /PressCable/ -- TEMECULA, Calif. — Bliss Crystals, a crystal and jewelry retailer based in Temecula, California, has published an online guide that explains how to tell genuine moldavite from glass and resin imitations. The guide, released [DATE] on the company's website, sets out eight checks to make before a purchase.

Moldavite is a natural glass, known as a tektite, that formed about 15 million years ago in a meteorite impact. It is found almost only in the Czech Republic, and most pieces weigh just a few grams.

Because genuine moldavite is scarce and sold by the gram, imitations are common in online marketplaces. The guide notes that some cast copies now carry added surface texture, which makes a quick visual check less reliable.

The eight checks cover texture, internal structure, color, size, shape, origin, price and beads. Genuine pieces have a matte surface of pits, wrinkles and folds, while cast copies often look wet and glassy.

Under a jeweler's loupe, genuine moldavite shows flow lines, elongated gas bubbles and fine rods of lechatelierite, a glass formed under extreme heat. According to the guide, these internal features are among the hardest details for a copy to imitate.

The guide also addresses color and size. Genuine moldavite ranges from soft moss to olive and forest green and is usually small, so unusually large or uniformly bright pieces call for close inspection.

On provenance, the guide cautions that a printed certificate of authenticity proves little on its own. It recommends buying from an established dealer who can show the difference between genuine and imitation material.

Research summaries on moldavite and the Ries impact that formed it are available from Science.gov, the U.S. federal science portal: https://www.science.gov/topicpages/m/moldavites.html.

Bliss Crystals sells natural crystals, tumbled stones and jewelry online and at its showroom in Temecula, California. The company states on each listing when a stone has been treated, dyed or enhanced.

The moldavite guide is available now on the Bliss Crystals website at https://blisscrystals.com/blogs/learn/moldavite-real-or-fake-how-to-spot-authentic-moldavite.

dcs plus launches ARIA, an AI-native workspace

dcs plus, a global travel technology provider, today launched ARIA, an AI-native workspace where travel agents and AI agents handle customer requests side by side. The company describes ARIA as a milestone in its AI strategy, designed to move agencies from disconnected tools to a single, AI-centric operating environment. For most agencies, one request still follows a long manual route: an agent reads the email, opens a booking engine, searches for options, builds a quotation and sends it to the traveler, while requests pile up across separate inboxes and generic helpdesks.
