Seven Roses Recognized for Outstanding Regional Garden Performance

MANHATTAN, N.Y. - Oct. 1, 2026 - PRLog -- The American Garden Rose Selections™ (AGRS™) program today announced its 2027 award-winning roses, recognizing seven exceptional varieties for outstanding performance in independent trial gardens across multiple regions of the United States.

The 2027 selections represent roses that have demonstrated the qualities today's gardeners are looking for: beauty, resilience, adaptability, disease resistance, vigor, abundant flowering, and ease of care. Most importantly, AGRS™ gives independent information about how a rose performs in various parts of the country.

Unlike a rose evaluation conducted in a specific location, the AGRS™ program evaluates the same roses in trial gardens across the United States. Roses are evaluated over a two-year period in six geographic regions, with independent judges assessing disease resistance, flowering, bloom form, fragrance, rebloom, hardiness, vigor, foliage, plant habit, and overall garden performance.

"When choosing a rose, gardeners need to know which roses have performed well in gardens like theirs. That's what AGRS™ is designed to do," said Pat Shanley, Chair of the American Garden Rose Selections™.

Roses Tested Where Gardeners Grow Them
Selecting the right rose can make all the difference in the garden. Climate, heat, cold, humidity, soil, and disease pressure can vary dramatically across the United States, and a rose that performs exceptionally well in one region may perform differently somewhere else. That is why regional testing is at the heart of the American Garden Rose Selections™ program.

AGRS™ was established to recognize and recommend the best garden-worthy rose varieties for different regions of the United States through independent testing. The organization's goal is to provide objective and reliable information to rose gardeners, helping them make better choices for their own gardens.

The AGRS™ program operates a national network of independent trial gardens, where roses are evaluated under a wide range of weather, soil, and growing conditions. The same roses are evaluated in gardens around the country, giving AGRS™ the ability to identify varieties that demonstrate superior performance in particular regions.
Disease resistance is an important part of the evaluation process, along with flowering effect, bloom abundance, bloom form and attractiveness, fragrance, rebloom habit, aging quality of blooms, hardiness, vigor, foliage, and plant habit.

A National Standard for Garden-Worthy Roses
The American Garden Rose Selections program is a national rose testing program dedicated to identifying quality roses that gardeners can grow where they live.
AGRS™ was created to address the tremendous diversity of growing conditions found across the United States. Rather than relying on performance in a specific location, AGRS™ evaluates roses across multiple geographic regions and recognizes varieties that demonstrate superior regional performance.
For gardeners, the AGRS™ designation provides another useful tool when choosing a new rose. Instead of relying solely on a catalog photograph or description, gardeners can look for roses that have undergone years of independent evaluation in gardens across the country.

89% of guests want AI working behind the scenes, not running the front desk, Mews finds

New survey data released today by Mews, the operating system for hospitality, shows that as AI adoption in hotels accelerates, guest expectations are moving the opposite way - 89% of guests want either a hybrid stay blending AI and human service or AI operating quietly in the background on repetitive tasks. Almost none want an AI-led stay. 59% of guests believe AI should take over repetitive tasks so hoteliers can instead focus on building trust with their guests. At a time when AI adoption in hotels has never moved faster, guests have never been clearer that they still want a human at the center of the stay - not at every point in it.
