A Survivor's Story Comes to Life: The Dog and Her Three Blankets by Beverlee McGrath

Sep 23, 2026

A heartwarming true story of hope, healing, and finding home — written for children who know what it means to feel different

Oxnard, California Sep 23, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Atticus Publishing is proud to announce the official launch of The Dog and Her Three Blankets: A True Story About Hope, Healing, and Finding Home by award-winning animal advocate and author Beverlee McGrath, with illustrations by Delaney Ditterich, available on Amazon and through major book retailers worldwide.

What sets this book apart from every other children's book on the shelf? The Dog and Her Three Blankets is not fiction. It is a true story and to prove it, Beverlee McGrath has included real photographs of Queenie at the last part of the book, allowing young readers to see with their own eyes the little Poodle whose courage and resilience inspired every single page.

This beautifully illustrated children's book tells the true story of Queenie, a little Poodle who survived unimaginable cruelty, found her way to safety, and discovered that love can heal even the deepest wounds. Told from Queenie's own point of view, the story follows her journey from a cold animal shelter, where she could not bark and struggled to eat, to a warm and loving home where she is fed, cared for, and most importantly, given three blankets to call her very own.

Queenie was found on the street by an Animal Control Officer, sleeping on papers and covered in black tar. Four veterinarians who treated her said they had never seen such a tragic case. Today, she is loved, fed, and cared for and her story is one that children everywhere deserve to hear.

Beverlee McGrath's journey from a humble farm in Washington State to becoming one of the nation's most passionate voices for animal rights is nothing short of remarkable. Growing up surrounded by pigs, chickens, and a beloved pet cow named Lady, Beverlee witnessed firsthand the profound emotions animals experience, a realization that would shape the course of her entire life.

Armed with determination and an unshakeable love for animals, Beverlee built a successful career as a lobbyist for national animal organizations, tirelessly advocating for laws to better protect and care for animals across the country. Today, she resides on a sprawling strawberry ranch where she founded Crops and Critters, an extraordinary farm animal rescue facility that opens its doors not only to animals in need, but also to school children through educational tours designed to foster empathy, compassion, and understanding among the next generation.

It was at Crops and Critters that the inspiration for this book truly took root.

At the heart of The Dog and Her Three Blankets is a message that McGrath has carried with her throughout her life and her lifelong work with animals:

"Dogs feel emotions like people and even dogs have security blankets."

This simple but profound truth is woven into every page of Queenie's story, reminding readers young and old that animals experience joy, fear, sadness, and comfort just as deeply as we do and that sometimes, all any of us needs is something soft and familiar to hold onto.

"I noticed that children with special needs would stand away from their group and gravitate to the special needs animals like Tiny Timm," McGrath adds. "This book is for them."

The book is now for pre-order available on Amazon. For more information about Beverlee McGrath and her works, please visit www.beverleemcgrathcropsandcritters.com.

PHP Issues Emergency Patches for Two Critical PHP2Shell RCE Flaws as Exploit Attempts Emerge

PHP has released emergency updates that fix two critical flaws in the language itself, letting an attacker without an account run code on a web server. The fixes are in PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35, and the PHP team says only updating fully protects a server. The flaws, together called PHP2Shell, sit in the PHP runtime, not in any application, so a site is exposed even when its own
