Bailey Edwards, son of actor and director Anthony Edwards has announced his lead role in independent psychological thriller, “M.O.M.” (Mothers of Monsters). The film is about a single mother who suspects her son is a psychopath capable of murder. When he slips through the cracks of the system she is forced to take matters into her own hands.

Independent feature film “M.O.M.” (Mothers of Monsters) has been announced, with a lead role being played by Bailey Edwards, Anthony Edwards’ son. This is a breakout role for Bailey Edwards and he is determined to be a self-made actor, which can be challenging with a famous father.

Bailey was quoted saying, “I realized about half way through the audition process that the producers had no idea Anthony Edwards was my dad and because it can sometimes be rare to be seen just as me I decided to keep it to myself for the rest of the chemistry tests. It wasn’t until after I was offered the part that I finally brought it up and the fact that they didn’t know gave me much more ownership over the role.”

The film has a very relevant social theme, especially considering the recent momentum of the “enough is enough” movement. M.O.M. wrapped principal photography the same week as the tragic Parkland Florida school shooting and is currently in post-production, seeking distribution.

Mothers of Monsters is the first directing project of Tucia Lyman who has 15 years of experience writing and directing programs seen on Discovery Channel, TLC, Syfy, National Geographic, Destination America and the Travel Channel. For the making of M.O.M. she teamed up with a powerhouse of like-minded women to tackle the difficult subject matter of the film.

Her goal with this project is to tap into the younger audience and hopefully give them a good movie experience as well as to keep the conversation going about gun violence, school shootings and stigma surrounding mental health in America.

The recently released trailer and information on how to get involved with the distribution of this project can be found at the link above.

In South Africa, plans for a refuge for pangolins in peril

Jun 22, 2018

JOHANNESBURG — Monitored by a conservationist, a young pangolin slurped ants with a long tongue near a veterinary hospital that became a temporary home after the animal was found near the body of its mother, killed by a jolt from an electric fence. The six-month-old scaly anteater foraged on a hillside, building up strength in a tiny step for a campaign to save one of the world's most heavily trafficked mammals. Traffickers often sell the pangolin meat locally and ship the scales for use in traditional medicine in Asia, mainly China. The growing illegal industry has prompted plans in South...

DAKAR, Senegal — Two infected patients who fled from an Ebola treatment center in a Congo city of 1.2 million people later died, an aid group said Wednesday while asserting that "forced hospitalization is not the solution to this epidemic." As the number of suspected Ebola cases continued to rise, experts emphasized that more community engagement is needed to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. Three patients left of their own accord from the isolation zone of the Wangata hospital in Mbandaka city between Sunday and Tuesday, said Henry Gray, emergency coordinator for Medecins Sans Frontieres. One patient had...

NAGRIG, Egypt — The cafe began to fill up more than two hours before kickoff. Salah didn't score, but almost everyone at the cafe let out a joyous scream and clapped enthusiastically at the final whistle: Liverpool, the English club for which Salah has scored more than 40 goals since he joined this season, has reached the final of...
